Avarekal Cutlet

Cutlet made from Surti lilva beans

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings

    • 2 big Potatoes (boiled & mashed)
    • 1 Onion (finely chopped)
    • 1 cup Boiled Surti Papdi Lilva beans
    • 1 Medium Carrot (finely grated)
    • 1/2 tsp Cumin powder
    • 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
    • 1 tsp Red Chilli powder/ 2 Green chillies finely chopped
    • 1 tsp Lemon juice
    • 2-3 tblsp chopped Cilantro (Coriander leaves)
    • 1 cup fine Semolina(Rava)/ Bread Crums
    • Salt
    • Vegetable Oil for frying.


    1. Lightly mash 1/4 cup of boiled Surti papdi Lilva beans.
    2. In a bowl, mix Potatoes, Onion, mashed Lilva beans, remaining Lilva beans, Carrot, Lemon juice, Cilantro, Salt & all the powders.
    3. Make round/oval patties. Dip in Semolina & deep fry or shallow fry the patties. Serve hot with ketchup & Green chutney.
